- The child must be able to take the garment off without help.
- Never worn during sleep.
- Short stretches work better than all day. The body stops registering steady input.
- Use weighted products with guidance from a therapist.
- Surface wash only. Air dry.

How much weight should my child wear?
Never more than 10% of the child's body weight. The weights are removable, so start with fewer than you think and add only if needed. Please follow your own therapist's guidance where you have it.
How long should the vest be worn?
In short, scheduled periods rather than all day — commonly around 20 minutes on, then off. Worn continuously it stops working, because the body adjusts to constant input.
How do I wash a weighted product?
Remove the weights first where they come out — the vest weight packets lift out and must be taken out before washing. Minky weighted blankets can be machine washed on a gentle cycle and must be air dried; never tumble dry, as heat damages both the bead fill and the fabric. Lap pads, weighted soft toys and bead bags with sealed fill are spot clean only. Check the seams regularly and stop using anything that leaks fill.
