Sixty-four acrylic rods in eight colors, each one a pincer grip, and the child is placing them because the picture lights up rather than because an adult asked.
Copy a pattern to work visual planning, then invent one. Letters and numbers built in light are often accomplished by a child who refuses them on paper.
Flat on a table for younger children, on a wall for reaching and standing.
Highlights & Tips
- Every rod is a pincer grip. Sixty-four placements in one activity, and the child is doing it because the picture lights up, not because an adult asked.
- Copy a pattern, then build one. Copying works visual planning and sequencing. Inventing works the part that comes after.
- Letters and numbers, lit up. A child who resists writing will often accomplish the same letter here.
- Dim the room, not the board. It comes alive with the lights off, and that is also when it is at its most calming.
- Flat on a table for younger children. On the wall it becomes a standing activity with reaching and crossing the midline.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I look after a lamp, projector or light panel?
Switch off and unplug before cleaning. Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth and never let water reach the unit, the cable or the plug. Nothing electrical should be immersed. For bubble tubes, empty, rinse and refill with clean water periodically, and never move a tube while it is full. Keep units out of direct sun and away from heat.
