The board the Wet Dry Try routine was built for. Two lines instead of four, so a child only has to decide between big and small.
Write the letter, let them trace it with a wet sponge, dry it with a scrap of paper towel, then write it in chalk. Three passes at one letter, three kinds of feedback. The pinched sponge trains the grip while the letter is being learned.
Chalk and sponge are not included.
Highlights & Tips
- Two lines, not four. A child only has to decide between big and small. Ordinary handwriting paper asks them to judge four positions at once, and that is where most of the confusion comes from.
- This is the Wet Dry Try board. You write the letter, the child traces it wet, traces it dry, then writes it themselves. Three passes at one letter, three kinds of feedback.
- The sponge is doing two jobs. Pinched between finger and thumb, it practises the grip while the child practises the letter.
- Chalk drags. That resistance is useful feedback for a child still working out how hard to press.
